An estimated 1 out of 6 adults has an overactive bladder that may have a clinically significant impact on his or her health and quality of life. First-line pharmacologic treatment of primary OAB has traditionally involved the use of anticholinergic drugs with various muscarinic receptor affinities. Future OAB therapies may offer the ability to produce "target organ"-specific agents that address individual or combination mechanisms that contribute to the micturition process. |
