Diabetic retinopathy is a rising threat as the population ages and the number of diabetics aged 60 and older increases. Appropriate screening by primary care providers and geriatric specialists can ensure its early detection, while optimal management of blood glucose levels and hypertension can reduce its incidence and progression.
