Better outcomes for lapatinib than hormone therapy if tumors overexpress epidermal growth factor receptor

Patients with advanced renal cell carcinoma have a similar time to progression and overall survival whether they are treated with hormone therapy or lapatinib, although lapatinib patients have significantly better outcomes if their tumors overexpress the epidermal growth factor receptor, researchers report in the May 10 issue of the Journal of Clinical Oncology.
