Under a new six-month agreement, the 107 independents in the Community Specialty Pharmacy Network (CSPN) will be getting administrative help from the pharmacy franchisor CARE Pharmacies. According to the two parties involved, this is a temporary agreement that will allow CSPN to devote more time to implementing a pilot program for Bayer and its multiple sclerosis drug betaseron (interferon beta-1b). The pilot involves comparing the results of CSPN pharmacies' performance with that of mail-order pharmacies and other entities. CARE Pharmacies has a seat on CSPN's board and five of CARE's 50 franchisees belong to CSPN.
