Surgery

  • Lung surgery

Lung surgery is any surgical procedure that allows the surgeon to directly affect the lungs. Examples include:

  • Heart valve surgery

Heart valve surgery is used to repair or replace diseased heart valves.

  • Heart Bypass Surgery

Heart bypass surgery is performed to route blood flow around clogged arteries supplying the heart.

  • Colostomy

Colostomy is a surgical procedure that brings the end of the large intestine through the abdominal wall. Stools moving through the intestine drain into a bag attached to the abdomen.

  • Appendectomy

An appendectomy is surgery to remove the appendix.

  • Minimally Invasive Heart Surgery

Minimally invasive heart surgery refers to several approaches for bypassing blocked arteries. The minimally invasive procedures are less difficult and risky than conventional open heart surgery such as coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG).

  • Open heart surgery

Open heart surgery is any surgery where the chest is opened and surgery is performed on the heart. The term "open" refers to the chest, not the heart itself. The heart may or may not be opened, depending on the type of surgery.

  • Spleen Removal

Spleen removal is surgery to remove a diseased or damaged spleen -- the organ that helps the body fight infections.

  • Pectus Excavatum Repair

Pectus excavatum repair is surgery to correct pectus excavatum, a deformity of the front of the chest wall with a sunken breastbone (sternum) and ribs.
