San Francisco—IRIDEX Corp. launched a dual-port ophthalmic green laser photocoagulator (IQ 532) and a modular multi-wavelength laser photocoagulator at the recent annual meeting of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.

The green laser photocoagulator has two features designed to make the device convenient and quick to set up and operate, according to Theodore A. Boutacoff, IRIDEX president and chief executive officer. The dual-port laser output allows physicians to connect a delivery device to each laser port and then switch between devices without changing connections, he said. The user interface features a touchscreen with options for storing system presets, such as physician treatment settings and voice confirmation, Boutacoff added.

The multi-wavelength laser photocoagulator uses two wavelengths, yellow (577 nm) and infrared (810 nm), he said. Each module can be purchased as a separate, stand-alone laser and then, at any time, can be combined with the other module, using the company’s slit-lamp adapter (Symphony 2) to create a multi-wavelength system tailored to meet the customer’s specific needs, according to the company.
