Viral Suppression Compared in HIV Treatments
More drug-resistant mutations associated with an NRTI-sparing regimen

Treatment of HIV-1 infection with efavirenz plus two nucleoside reverse-transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs) is associated with better viral suppression and a longer time to virologic failure than lopinavir-ritonavir plus two NRTIs, according to a report in the May 15 issue of the New England Journal of Medicine.
