Antiretroviral therapy in specialty pharmacy and therapy management settings

The advent of combination antiretroviral therapy (ART) has transformed HIV infection from a rapidly progressing disease to a chronic viral infection that can be managed with long-term treatment. While the increased life expectancy of HIV-infected patients is a triumph of medicine, it creates new challenges for healthcare delivery. This educational activity examines HIV treatment in specialty pharmacy through the perspectives of both the physician and pharmacist and illustrates the collaborative process with a case-based exercise.
