Statin Dose Limitations

Interactions between certain HIV or hepatitis C drugs and cholesterol-lowering statin drugs can increase risk of muscle injury

 

In March 2012 the FDA issued recommendations concerning interactions between drugs for HIV or hepatitis C virus. Labeling for both the HIV protease inhibitors and certain statins have been updated to contain interaction information and dosing recommendations for those statins that may safely be co-administered with HIV or HCV protease inhibitors.
